You mean Atkins?

If you do it correctly, you lose. Make sure you're not getting simple carbs from some unknown source.

I was never very successful on Atkins - I never lost my interest in carbs, so it was a struggle every day. I have several friends who lost weight and have kept it off.

The trick with Atkins seems to be the same "trick" as with every "diet." As long as we conceptualize it as a diet, it is something we finish and then go off of. Once we think of it as learning how to eat healthier for life, we can generally maintain unless some major stressor comes in to our lives.

Now if only I could remember that for myself as easily as I write it for others.

The problem with the Atkins diet is that you lose muscle. When you start adding carbs back into your diet, you gain back fat. This makes it harder to lose weight each time you try. I think a healthy, balanced, whole foods diet makes a lot more sense. Why don't you join us in the 1000 pound challenge?
