Special of the House today: Tropical Breeze Delight and Beer-battered sweet potato fries
Come on in a sit a spell. Tell us what trouble you've been making. Share your secrets -- nah, nobody will tell!
Did I tell ya about the time I was living in Santa Clarita, Ca and went to this rustic restaurant -- the one with the stuffed deer head that fell off the wall and onto my tender scalp? And how, when sitting in the ER waiting room and feeling fairly good but knowing I needed a stitch or two, a nurse came out and says, "Will the gentleman who slammed his finger in the car door please come forward."
Then two minutes later she came back, "Will the woman who cut her foot on broken glass please step up."
I looked at husband; husband smiled broadly. We waited. Nurse came out again. "Will the woman who...who... Will Azure C please come up."
:-)
Shall I put a pork tenderloin on the grill or make lemon chicken tonight? Oh, the excitement!
Stay a while. Tell us what's happenin'. There's a couch over there....the blue one under that poster...

Azure!!! Sister!!! Welcome home!!!

As I relaxed in the Chit Chat Cafe, I suddenly realized. While most people can't sleep after drinking coffee, I strangely enough, can not drink coffee, while I am sleeping,

Hi, guys...
I like chitting, and chatting's great too. Blue couches, falling deers, tropical breeze delights, Jaki, fellow late-night coffee drinkers, Editor smiling, living in California (once was enough but I had to do it twice), gosh, this thread has something for everyone.

That's going to be interesting!
I've tried to edit captions on pics and there is no access to the photo which has already been added to a comment, so I will put in a "close bold" here and see what happens.
That seems to have done it!

Morning, everyone! I walked in a bit earlier, but after spotting jack I had to run out -- grab some drool bibs and turn on the AC...
That was fast, editor! How did ya get that pic of my couch? Did you bring your dog?
Justme, mind if I share your table? Fellow iced tea drinker here.
Wow, what a fine job I've done of making this establishment totally nondiscriminatory -- rather large green guys with bad teeth and ex-Californian ET's.
Today's morning special: Peanut butter French toast with green grape syrup.
Okay, who put the sign out front?

AZure-CAlm, thanks for including the invite for my boy, Moses, but I'm a polite dog owner and didn't want hairs on the sofa. I also spotted the sign in the parking lot. Perhaps from the former Cafe owner?

Lookit dat WAKEUP FROG!!!! Dat's cool, dat's wat dat is....
I can't order yuppie coffee at those yuppie coffee houses I go to (to break up with guys and hold other important meetings).
So here's what I ask for: a 12 -ounce cuppa yer regular Columbian brew. Put ten ounces only of brew in dat cup becawse I want to add skim milk, and don't want it sloshing over and burning my hand.
As a matter of fact, i will take one of those sissy little "hand-protector" dealies that keep the hot coffee in the skimpy cup from making my hand too hot.
Y'all could just use better cups, but I realize I am already asking for too much for my $3.50.
Oh and a decent attitude from the cashier troll will make me NOT want to empty my car trash in the parking lot... which I can't/won't do that anyway because it's littering and bad for my Karma.
But I DO hope the lady with the crying baby stays in here for an hour... 'cause I'm leaving to go to the coffee shop all my friends are at, casually sipping roasted Columbian, served by our Host who happens to be my favorite Cuban-American gastronome, and we are holding intellectual yet silly conversations, and making "hand puppet shapes" on the back wall.
Spuff, save me a seat. I'm on my way....

Hi all! Guess I'll order the USUAL: Cup of "What the Hell..." with a side of fried "You've got to be kidding me!"
Seriously, a tall caramel macchiotto(did I spell that right?) sounds good about now.

Hi, WendyLM. Welcome! Not sure how you spell it, but I make those! Coming right up! (Also do a lot of those "what the Hell's")

Hey gang,
Today is Betty Ray's last day at TBD for a while. Check out her discussion, "Not 'Goodbye' but 'See you soon'...
http://www.tbd.com/content/post/103443#comment-103530
If you didn't know she was leaving, she starts maternity leave from TBD on Monday and is calling herself the world's oldest first-time mom...
Here's your chance to wish her well...
Posted: Mar 28, 08 8:43pm
Too new to know Betty Ray, but will send her all great wishes. Had my one and only at almost 34...never, ever thought it would happen. What a true miracle to have a baby of your own, no matter your age or circumstances. Definitely something to celebrate!
Posted: Mar 28, 08 10:51pm
Aloha, Betty Ray. We'll be thinking of you and your soon arriving gift-of-life knowing what a wonderful Mom you are going to be.
Posted: Mar 28, 08 11:23pm
Think I'll come in, unlax (not EXlax - they (2) have it), order after following jackz's advice and insight, ask jaki64 nicely for a slug of CVOD after ordering 16 ounces of the finest of Juan Valdez's HONEST job security( Columbian Joy Juice), and say 'Howdy, Friends and Friends unmet - yet!' and a pork chop sammich with a side of Jeanne's tater salad, and Tabasco to spice up my taste buds for the confab to follow...
Good to see old TBD buddies here, before saddling up to follow the old snooze trail...(time flies)
Been nice chit-chatting, y'all... Hasta la bye-bye; see you on the flip-flop (oh, DANG! that line has been stolen by politicians now... ah well, into every life a little rain must fall, speakin' of which, due for 1-3" of liquid sunshine between now and Monday, it's drizzling now)... where was I ?

While the java's brewing, thought I'd share a little insight with y'all on the spread of these internet cafes:
How it all began
In ancient Israel, it came to pass that a trader by the name of Abraham Com did take unto himself a young wife by the name of Dot. And Dot Com was a comely woman, broad of shoulder and long of leg. Indeed, she had been called Amazon Dot Com.
She said unto Abraham, her husband, "Why doth thou travel far from town to town with thy goods when thou can trade without ever leaving thy tent?" And Abraham did look at her as though she were several saddle bags short of a camel load, but simply said, "How, Dear?"
And Dot replied, "I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to send messages saying what you have for sale and they will reply telling you which hath the best price. And the sale can be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah's Pony Stable (UPS)."
Abraham thought long and decided he would let Dot have her way with the drums. The drums rang out and were an immediate success. Abraham sold all the goods he had at the top price, without ever moving from his tent. But this success did arouse envy.
A man named Maccabia, Apple of his mother's eye, did secret himself inside Abraham's drum and was accused of Insider trading. And the young man did take to Dot Com's trading as doth the greedy horsefly take to camel dung. They were called Nomadic Ecclesiastical Rich Dominican Siderites, or NERDS for short.
And lo, the land was so feverish with joy at the new riches and the deafening sound of drums, that no one noticed that the real riches were going to the drum maker, one Brother William of Gates, who bought up every drum company in the land. And indeed did insist on making drums that would work only with Brother Gates' drumheads and drumsticks. When Dot Com cried, "I don't do WINDOWS!" Abraham soothed her briefly with "What Is New Drums Operations Without Stress?"
Dot then did say, "Oh, Abraham, what we have started is being taken over by others." And as Abraham looked out over the Bay of Ezekiel, or as it came to be known "eBay" he said, "we need a name that reflects what we are," and Dot replied, "Young Ambitious Hoohaws Owner Operators." "YAHOO!", exclaimed the delighted Abraham.
And that is how it all began. See, it wasn't Al Gore after all....
At least that is what I've been told, folks, so , well, works for moi...or as Travis Carter said in The Education of Little Tree, "That sounds reasonable."
Should read: LanSrdork.com but what is TeeBeeDee w/o a little stress, eh?
Posted: Mar 29, 08 5:34am
Our checking in comrade, dotcom, has yet to hap upon this thread. Imagine her delight when she does! Did you even know you had an inclusion clause in this delightful tale you wrote this morning, partner?
Posted: Mar 29, 08 5:40am
Of course, editor... I thought the lovely dotcom would get a kick out of it, and not from Uriah's Pony Stables, either...
:-)
B&A,
moi

Just dropping by to see what's up. Sent a PM to AZure-CAlm about my trip to Phoenix ..thought I would share some excerpts this AM...
I was visiting Az about 25 years ago in Phoenix. I was attending a national IBM conference and staying at a resort nestled in the base of the mountains. Being curious, I asked about the elevation of the mountain. Seems it's more like a glorified foothill than a mountain ..but high enough to see a sunrise.
The following morning I got up at 4 AM ..took a carafe of coffee from the dining room and climbed the moutan. When I got to the top, I sat on a rock and looked East.
About 20 minutes later I saw the most spectacular sunrise I had ever seen. I watched this great ball of fire rise above the horizon. At one point it ws blinding and you could not face it, head on. Simply a wonderous sight to behold. Then the sun finished rising, I went back to the hotel..and life returned to normal ..work..!
The fireball rises

O.K. Frog, that was so spiritual following this read through that my comment and reflection will remain a secret.
Time for me to face the real world. Peace and tranquilty to all this day.
Posted: Mar 29, 08 6:06am
Small world, BadFrog, I was brought into the IBM RASC Center, as a contractor, in Minneapolis winter of '83-84, to oversee the merging of its Midwest Office Equipment and Dispatch Center databases. Also troubleshot its Dispatch Center Customer Service operations. It was just as IBM was instituting its 4-bit, 16 color CRT's.
And the sunrise over Camelback Mountain east of Phoenix IS awesome... small bit of trivia: Per the CDC, Phoenix is the only City in the last ten years to have cases of diagnosed malaria (mosquito bite-caused). In the desert, not the deep bug-ridden Southeast. Go figure...

Aaargh! My fingers (and a few other things) don't work in the morning...
Hello, LanSr! Did you ever get to read that Sharyn McCrumb mystery? She writes some sci-fi, also -- not the "B" variety, but not the "Bradbury-Clarke-Ellison" type either. Catch "Bimbos of the Death Sun" sometime; it's hilarious! (And it won the Edgar Award.) Oh, and you'd be surprised at fast and far Phoenix has grown! Camelback Mt is now in the center of the city. Ah, Phoenix --number one in car thefts, red light-running...
Morning, Badfrog. Love that sunrise photo!
Menu item today: Prescott Omelet (red, yellow and orange bell peppers/onions/mushrooms/ham) and Indian fry bread
Off to mumble some more and wallow in envy over editor's great hair.

Food has not yet passed my lips and I drool with anticipation over fine food served in this joint!

Nope, our little town liberry doesn't carry it, so am waiting for the County dispatch center to dropship it to them... and waiting... and waiting... and (snore)...

I thank you LanSr. I have never been in a,"tale" before. I enjoyed it very much. Maybe life begins at 60. Now may I join you on the blue couch and discuss this possibily?

Exchanging tales sounds exciting especially if we can get a crowd on the couch. Maybe Jaki Spuff Pru GG booboo who ever wants to drink a little froggy juice and LanSr and Arky and Bull. If we don't have a lot of tales we will have a lot of tails on that couch. heehee
Froggie and Spuff I just bought some Peter Pan Honey Roast Crunchy PB. YUmmmmmmm
