Happy Birthday Froggy.
"Sixty is the worst age to be," said the 60-year-old man. "You always feel like you have to pee and most of the time you stand there and nothing comes out."
"Ah, that's nothin," said the 70-year-old. "When you're seventy, you don't have a bowel movement any more. You take laxatives, eat bran, sit on the toilet all day and nothin' comes out!"
"Actually," said the 80-year old, "Eighty is the worst age of all."
"Do you have trouble peeing too?" asked the 60-year old.
"No, I pee every morning at 6:00. I pee like a racehorse on a flat rock; no problem at all."
"So, do you have a problem with your bowel movement?"
"No, I have one every morning at 6:30."
Exasperated, the 60-year-old said, "You pee every morning at 6:00 and crap every morning at 6:30. So what's so bad about being 80?"
"I don't wake up until 7 o'clock."

Froggy, you have lifted us up innumerable( I'm not a great speller, and don't like to use spell checks!), times, with your wild and wacky cartoons, pics, sayings, and cool character, and we treasure you as our friend!

Happy Birthday, BF, from a "newbie". (How weird it is to say that at my age!) I'll help you celebrate, since it is written (by me) that there will be no more celebrations for mine.
In my case, it's as Sammy Hagar said, "I can't drive 55!"
After Brit's story, though, I'm afraid to hit 60, and hope my daughter the doctor (said with the appropriate NY borough accent) can help me avoid the pitfalls at 80!

Happy Birthday you two!
I had an odd phone call this morning bright (well, not so bright yet) and early. A G.I. friend of mine was having problems, so he called. I won't bore you with all of the details, suffice it to say, he just needed to talk.
His call bewildered me so badly, I had to work it out myself, so if anybody really wants to read the entire diatribe about it, I posted it in a discussion.
http://www.tbd.com/content/post/138166
I'm going to call his wife later, see how things are going.
But now, the sun is up, the birds are singing, and I'm ready (as ready as I can get anyway) to get busy!!
Cups of java and bright smiles for all today!!

Don't be downheartend froggy about my previous remark. Some 80 year olds might have some problems, but this one took advantage of his:
An eighty year-old man went to the doctor and said "I'm getting married to a twenty-five year-old next week and she wants us to have a family. Can you give me any advice?"
The doctor shook his head. "The only advice I can give you is to get a lodger".
A few weeks later the man went back to the doctor and said "I've come to thank you for the advice you gave me. It's worked so well that my wife's pregnant already"
"And how's the lodger?" asked the doctor.
"Just fine" said the man. "She's pregnant too!"

My 4th must be an important day--Froggy, AZ, Nick and my granddaughter Sammi--she is 1 today. Happy Birthday to all! Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood... sunshine and warmth to go with it--a rarity this spring!
Barnyard chores should be about done, dinner is waiting then it is time to go celebrate Sammi's first birthday.
Have a great afternoon/evening all!

Froggie and Azure
I hope you are both having a wonderful birthday.
kle I hope your granddaughter did too.
Posted: May 4, 08 8:38pm
Well, what a special birthday today is! My husband's birthday is also today...48 years old! I wasn't so sure he'd make it a few months ago, so it was a special one today.
Good birthday wishes to everyone...you stubborn Taurus bulls, you!!!

Della
I hope it was a great day for him too. Isn't remarkable how we think someone will never recover, and then they do, a miracle for sure.
Posted: May 4, 08 8:50pm
Gayle, thanks and yes, it's so nice to have him back to his old self...well, almost.
Actually, he has such a good sense of humor now, and I'm really enjoying it. He mixes words up all the time, and it is so funny. Well, sorta funny...you have to laugh, or you'll cry, after all. For example, he says "paint of coat." Another time, he was trying to say that something was being rationed, but instead said it was on the endangered species list. He just laughs and shrugs. Sometimes, the right words just don't arrive when he needs them.
We went to the grocery today, and I would send him off to find one or two things every so often. I stumped him at one point, however...I asked him to get coleslaw mix and slivered almonds. He came back later, empty-handed, saying that he was searching for the items, when all of a sudden he looked down at his hands, and he had his wallet out! He has no idea how it got there.
But, he can cook a mean barbecue. We grilled hollywood ribs, corn on the cob, and diced potatoes, with garlic and onion. Instead of birthday cake, I made him a hot fudge brownie for dessert.
We see the neurologist again in the morning.
Posted: May 5, 08 4:41am
Della, I'm so glad your husband is improving. I guess I missed what happened to him, but it spooks me a bit. I do that 'paint of coat' deal and have words that I know good and well completely escape me.
I hope all of you birthday boys and girls enjoyed your big day!!
I finally got some decent sleep, woke up bright and early at 3:30 this morning, and now I think I'm ready to roll!!
I hear birds singing and I see the sun shining outside my office window. Carpe dium!!

Have a great Day ..
Thank God I only turn 60 on "one day in my life" !
Posted: May 5, 08 7:15am
Good morning. I had to return here to report in from the neurology appointment my husband had.
For those who don't know what happened to hubby, he had a heart attack in January, followed by quadruple bypass. During the bypass surgery, he suffered a mild right fronto-parietal stroke.
We were just told that he will continue to improve for the next year. But at the same time, he may never recover to the point that he will be able to work in his chosen career field again.
He was a computer guy...IT, networking, troubleshooting, desktop support, software support, etc.
I'm in a state of shock at the moment, and trying to let it sink in. He was unemployed when this happened, and being the honest people we are, we immediately called the unemployment office to report what happened. They cut off his unemployment pay. VA disability claims are so bogged down that we won't see a determination for a year. Social Security is so difficult to get that it may take 2 to 3 years to see any results from that claim, and will most likely require us to retain an attorney.
I run my own business, and since it's a "luxury item" type of business, I'm being hit hard by the economy.
This is starting to look scary. I was truly expecting them to say he could return to work today, but instead they referred him for psychometric testing (don't even know what that is!), and scheduled a follow up appointment for SIX MONTHS from now! I'm in shock.
Still, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I'm going to try and concentrate on that, rather than dwelling on the bad. It's kinda hard somedays, though.
I hope everyone on this thread has a good day, and I wish you all good health. Take care, and thanks for letting me vent.
Della

Many, many tbd-related Happy Bdays yesterday, that's great for all of you and yours!
On a different note, Della, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's ongoing residual health problems, following hisbypass surgery and stroke;and your job issues.
We send all of our healing, hopeful prayers and thoughts for him, you, LanSr, Gayle, Karl, Pru, Harvey, and others who are hurting. Your ability to focus on finding simple daily joy in this gorgeous springtime; is truly inspiring.
Our recession is negatively affecting most Americans; with outrageous gas, food, housing, energy, education, and health care costs.
Hopefully, there WIll be light at the end of this difficult tunnel for all.Amen.

Hey, they unlocked the door this morning! I can walk in!
Thanks for all the cake and flowers and great wishes! I still have a couple of belated birthday events to attend this week. I love it when that happens!
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Somehow I doubt if all of yesterday's birthday TBDr's enjoyed your cake as much as Sammi did--she had a cupcake and by the time she was finished, she was covered head to toe with frosting and crumbs and she savored every bite while anticipating someone snatching it away because of the mess. What joy to truly "experience" your food! Maybe we should all allow ourselves to do so more often!
My day started out with a walk--2 1/2 miles to be exact. Felt great--now if I can keep doing it each morning it may actually do me some good! Time to tackle the winter weight gain. I was so proud of myself for losing 30 pounds--now 20 of it has found me again. Time to take control once again and get it off because I felt so much better then. Two reasons--I felt like I actually had taken control of something in my life when so much has felt out of control since my daughter's death and I felt physically healthier. Time to take charge again!!! We'll see what happens! I'll be 50 next month--I need to feel in control of SOMETHING!!!
Enjoy your day, everyone! It is beautiful here in the Boise area. I'll sit outside to study for my finals. One more day of class and the finals on THursday in my last two classes.

Yes I do have time on my hands. Well earned time on my hands and it is a joy to finally be able to just hang around.
Plus froggy is my favorite frog in the whole wide world.
Posted: May 6, 08 3:53pm
dotcom--did you really make those cupcakes! They are perfect! Decorating cakes is something I have always wanted to learn but have not been able to sit still long enough to even try. It is one of my "someday" projects.
Honestly my intent was not to insult anyone--I'm sorry if I came across that way. I was just trying to point out how well loved Froggy is.
Posted: May 6, 08 5:43pm
No I did not make any cupckes. I have never been good at decorating any baked goods. I do good to get them baked.--LOL
I was not offended. I was just saying how good it is to have time on my hands. I hope everyone will someday:)

I hope everyone has had a good day. I did. Weather was warm sunny.
Della I am so sorry about your situation. It sounds like you are so far down the only way is UP. The economy is so bad I really don't know where this is going to end. In your situation it sounds like it is time to get a good nights rest and get up in the morning, put on a pot of coffee, sit down at the kitchen table with your husband, say a prayer asking for God's help in your situation. Then begin to plan what the two of you are going to do. It will come to you. This is what thousands of families are doing in the US. Jobs lost, homes lost etc. Don't be afraid. Talk to your family. Your friends. Maybe a financial advisor. This is what we are doing. There are federal agencies that will help. There is a way. There has to be or this country of ours will be no more. Trust in God and do your best. Fight a good fight. PM me if you need to.
Your friend
