I used to live in the OKC area and dearly loved it. Oklahoma storms are awesome and the tornados deadly, but the rains give you one pretty countryside.

I now live in West Texas and I'd give my eyeteeth for a rain.

You should have heard me chuckling when I read your comment. Now for mine "it's life Jim, but not as we know it."

Yes they do. I was born here and never really saw anyplace else till I married my husband. He works in the Oil and gas ind., and we have lived in Texas, Louisiana and California. I loved Louisiana, but hated the rest. California was the last place, and when we got the chance to move back to Oklahoma we beat a fast track back here and never want to wander again.

We've enjoyed visiting Oklahoma--most of Hubby's aunts and uncles and cousins live in the Guthrie-Oklahoma City area. They are some of the best people I've ever met.

Guthrie, how I loved Guthrie with her history, Masonic Lodge and neat people. My wife is a native of Oklahoma, reared in the Wilburton area while I am a native Texan. We are thinking two areas for retirement, the Rockies of New Mexico or Central/Eastern Oklahoma.

How the heck are you going to decide, Aged One? There are some beautiful and serene cabin communities in that part of the Rockies. I spent part of a summer there; wanted to buy in, but the time wasn't right. Then there's Guthrie. Old town is so welcoming, you feel you don't want to leave. And the houses are well kept, special. It's just fun there. But you have another consideration, Eastern Oklahoma, with its rolling green hills, small town charm, every outdoor activity one could ever want. How will you choose?
