That is a great question. I think the problem is that there are so many desperate men & women out there that they will say anything just to get people interested. I believe too much focus is on getting laid and not enough focus on getting to know the real person. Having said that, in my travels between the US & Canada, through work, I have noticed that many people settle for good and not best. Desparation does that. A lot of people don't think they are "worth" the best, but everyone is!
If you are ruling out online try doing things you like a club a wine tasting driving range those all have worked for me but they are also things I enjoy. Tell all your friends and their friends that you are single and looking and ask them if they know anyone who is single. But mostly get out their look up do things like hit a restaurant and sit at the bar chat with bartender have a good time. Do things with friends but do things alone to mix it up.
And maybe try a different type of dating site instead of match try eharmony or something a litle more serious

I have tried online dating but most of the men I have men have been jerks! They want to jump into bed on the first date and don't wnat understand the word "no". They also lie about themselves in their profiles. I am not desperate and chosing to have a man in my life. I am just want I say I am in my profile, nothing more or less.
What kind of lies did they put in their profiles? Question I noticed you list your month and day of your birth but no year. I wonder if some people might think this is lying? Or hiding important information?

You are right about settling for good and not the best for them.
For me, I want to know the man. And there is no quick way of doing that in one or two dates. Sure, you can feel good vibes from the other but enough to be able to wake up the next morning next to him. I don't think so!
This one man tried to use this reason for trying to get me into bed. "If you can get aroused at our age, then you need to go for it." HA! That was a new line for me but it didn't work! Needless to say our date ended early. lol Which just showed to me that all he was looking for was sex not a relationship.
Some would say that they were trim or slender and use a picture of them that was that way. When I met them, they were very overweight.
To me, that would send red flags us. If they lie about that, they are very insecure about themselves.

What is the best?
The answer to that question would be different from person to person.
The best for me is a gentleman who is secure about himself, have a positive attitude about life, likes to laugh and have fun, do things, not a control freak, spontatious, etc.
