Yes. I don't like them. You can get encouragement from someone and feel you made a connection. But when you get the results they didn't pick you. I think there are people who pretend and not show their true mind because of the setting. Whereas at a dance they might be downright rude to you.Some people do lie about their age. But I know of events where they ask for proof. I did get one date a long time ago.I find that a number of the women sign up for these speed dating events in Manhattan but live out of the city. To me this is a waste. I'm limited because of my work schedule to certain areas. Alot of men don't care to travel very far when dating a woman. However, after saying all this I think you should try it and don't expect anything. I also think before hand think about questions to ask of the men.

I have been and thought it was a waste of time and money... nothing to do with lying just not my thing, talking to people for 3-5 mins and moving on to the next person. I found that people were cliquey their friends who they came with and unwilling to socialize outside of that group but I know some people who have fun with it.

I would agree with what you said. I also believe you wouldn't need this event to meet men.
