This is an interesting question. Can people who disagree philosophically (and specifically politically) be in a relationship? My mom and dad were like this. What a terrible relationship these two had. She died recently but up until the day she died, they would get into terrible fights about politics. This went on for years -- well 40 something to be exact. She was a liberal democrat, he is a christian republican. They separated and got back together 3 or 4 times and there was definitely love there. But they made life hell for each other. Everyone around them was dismayed by the way they treated each other when they were fighting about politics and/or religion. I myself -- fled from the house when I was 17 seeking some sort of peace. So -- can other people do this? Maybe. My mom and dad were certainly in a relationship for a long time. But, it was a really difficult one. If these people you are asking about are passionate about their views, then I can see a lot of ugly disagreements in their futures.
