I have fun with online dating... I am useless at bars or places where people usually flirt because of several reasons...

a) I hang out with men generally and no guys will ever approach a chick who is hanging with men they assume she is taken

b)I am incredibly obtuse.. I don't notice men smiling or hitting on me... I am useless I just assume they smile at everyone and are being friendly or I don't at all cause I am locked up in my head and what is going on with me, my book, my phone call, my friends

Mostly it is because I am obtuse incredibly obtuse...

So online works for me because we are all there for the same reason and I get that!

Wow, thanks SusieQ, I always thought women who were like that were just either not interested in meeting anyone or worse... maybe just conceited, acting like they were too good for me or anyone for that matter. I guess I just haven't had any success with the online thing other than meeting lots and lots of cool people who live thousands of miles away. I'm happy for you though.

I am very social and I belong to hiking groups, church groups, I go out dancing, kayaking, etc. I don't think one is necessarily better than the other (unless you never meet anyone you talk to online), it's just an alternative way to meet more people than you would in your normal course of things...

Caleb, I'm kind of where you are now, I just ended my profile on one online site, never got anywhere. Then just went back to another and thinking of pulling my profile on that one also, I did get a some dates a few months back but feel like I am wasting my time. I look at it more at entertainment than anything. I have felt your frustration also, but its not worth getting upset about. I have to believe that when the timing is right. the right guy will be there. I have resolved my self to that.

i am SOOOO much cooler online !!!

i don't pretend to be taller, younger, thinner or richer than i really am. But i find that i can be myself online. i can be witty and flirty and daring all the things i'm afraid to show to strangers in the real world.

i have had several first dates with some very nice men i met online and though the spark was not there and nothing lasted i think it has been a good avenue for me.

That is sooooo funny! That is how I feel sometimes. I feel less inhibited online and able to let myself go...and say things I'd never say in person. I just have difficulty with actually meeting people face to face, none of them want to meet.
