I became hooked on Martin Gardner's Mathematical Recreations columns back in high school. I still have his postcard reply to a question that I sent him about his 1967 column on Dragon Curves. In his columns, he introduced me to the earlier puzzles of Sam Loyd and Henry Dudeney, and the later work of Douglas Hofstadter. I hope this group can be a forum for sharing the same sort of math and logic puzzles and games that filled those Scientific American columns from 1956 to 1981.
Currently, TBD does not allow embedded images, so the puzzles will have to be limited to ones that can be easily described in words, with perhaps a reference to an image posted at the end of the text.
Also, because replies cannot be hidden, for every puzzle topic I will also create an empty "Answers" topic where I will post the answers after a week (or some other suitable time period). If you think you have the answer to a puzzle, please reply to the "Answers" topic rather than the original puzzle, so you don't spoil it for later readers.
