Anyone know some good places to stay in Guadalajara or Oaxaca?

I want rustic. I want to be able to mingle with the locals. Hablo Espanol.

Try Lake Chapala, just south of Guadalajara (Ajijic is particularly nice). You can Habla Español to your heart's delight, but there is aslo a large English speaking ex-patriot community "Lakeside." I'm seriously considering retiring there.

i've been to guadalajara a bunch of times on biz. its a big city. you might as well pop over to puerta vallarta.
