Just checking in with everyone to see how their game is and if I can help.

Thanks for asking.
My game is a little flat right now. I missed qualifying for the State Am this spring and I haven't really gotten over it. I am having trouble generating the energy to practice and I actually skipped playing the past two weeks.
I'm sure I'll get back at it pretty soon, since my Club Championship is coming up in September, but the commitment to the game is about as low as it has been in several years.
How's your game?
Club champiosnhip is always a big deal at the club, alot of bragging rights and of course if your club has it the parking space! don't worry about missing one qualifier, i have done that nefore and bounced back into a great tournament the next event. Golf is a crazy game and it will beat your butt if you let it. hope you get a chance to go out and practice some and play this weekend.
Just got into my first membership this year. I've purchased a new driver, a Cleveland Hi-Bore, which I am adjusting to and I've brought my handicap from a bogey golfer (+18) to about a 7 or 8 thus far. The short game, as usual, needs the most attention.
Let's see. How is my golf game? Non-existant!
I am that extremely rare breed that has retired from playing golf. It has nothing to with not liking the game or my physical condition. I retired from golf simply because it was taking so long to complete a round of golf that it became more like work than recreation. At that point, it was no longer fun.
The thing is, golf was designed to be (comfortably) played in three hours. I've done it in less, playing at a conmfortable pace, occasionally taking a second shot (nobody was behind us), etc.
The round that did me in occurred several years ago. It took over three hours (!) to play nine holes and the entire round took just shy of six. This is just not acceptable.
Unfortunately, five hour rounds have become the norm, both on public and private courses. At least around here. While I enjoy spending time in the fresh air and sunshine, I enjoy them a lot betterif I am moving instead of standing around endlessly.
The fact is, five hour rounds have become a self-fulfilling prophecy. People go out on the course and have no clue as to golf etiquette or how to play at a decent pace. it has nothing to do with how good a golfer you are (Well, maybe a little). I've played rounds with outright hackers and we've been able to move along. But everybody expects to take a long time playing, so they take a long time, themselves, even if there's no reason for it.
When I quit, I was a "10" so it's not like I didn't have a clue. But when something that you don't have to do stops becoming fun, it's time to stop
