The Dalai Lama gave the opening statement at a five day conference on Compassion named "The Seeds of Compassion" in Seattle, Wash. today. He said that todays centaury is different from other centauries in that, we have the experience of global communication. No other centaury has had that, therefore this centaury should be the "centaury of dialog". He called for a "new reality" of "nonviolent communication". He said that "war is outdated". He also said nonviolent communication can be determined, lively and willful. He included that men are causing most the problems in the world today, not women. He also said that, he, the Dalai Lama, was "not a miracle worker", and that he was "just one man". Any comments? What is nonviolent communication to you and how can we begin communicating nonviolently towards one another? What is this "new reality" he is referring too? Thank you.
