Is it possible to completely make peace with the past?
If so, how? Can we feel completely healed?...

Hi Durqu, Yes i think it's possibility depends on the situation in your past,i think you can only learn from your past and grow completely if you have faced it and try to accept it and move on. wants you have move on and learn from that experience, then you have healed completely. You can look back and "say" "Wow i'm so glad that i don't have to deal with this situation again" because, I finally know what to do this time, if it's in your face again.

Of course it's possible to make peace with any trauma in your past, but not without a lot of work. Things that once affected you profoundly rarely just "go away". You know that you are healed when thinking or seeing something associated with the trauma no longer make you ill, nauseated, bring tears to your eyes...etc.

Hi ahassan & IsadoraAlman,
When I was thinking about this subject this morning - 4:00am my time - I wasn't totally sure what I wanted to ask. Thanks to your comments & another group - I'm a little clearer now.
Not only am I questioning if this is possible for my life - but as well in our global community .
So many events in my past that I honestly thought I had made peace with & forgiven & moved on - have been coming back up in these past couple of months - especially since I joined tbd. What I'm now realizing as I'm typing this is, at this stage of my life, I am ready now to grow beyond the events & release the accompanying pain.
Is world peace possible - the drop a pebble in the pond ripple effect? Is there more people like myself that's ready to grow beyond & release the pain?
Take care, Deb

Of course, there are always more people ready to grow and release old pain. But, at the same time, there are also more people being hurt and needing to heal.
Shadows and light, the world is dappled with shadows and light.
I wish you healing and peace. Henry

Hi ashassan,
Great point you make here: "I finally know what to do this time, if it's in your face again."
This then bring up the question (to all of us participating in this thread), which is:
where does forgiveness begin?
my best to you,

Hi ahassan & IsadoraAlman,

A therapist once commented to me that healing is never a linear process. So it's not unusual to think that we've gone beyond one stage or event or another, and wind up in what looks like the same place. Hopefully each time around offers a little better vantage point. I know in my own experience I've never let go of anything once and for all. I do think I've learned better not to despair over not being as "fixed" as maybe I thought I was.
I do believe that world peace is possible, and that we should work for it. But I have almost zero confidence that I'll see it in this lifetime.

I feel that forgiveness begins within your self, You have to embrase it and accept it within yor being, you cant forgive someone, unless youve accepted within your hart, then you can let go.
