Its hard to give an exact answer... But, I think I do believe in an afterlife, but not exactly what kind.

I do believe that we meet people in each life that we have met before - people who were important in our past lives - and some of whom we are eventually meant to be with in some type of relationship, whether its just friends or spouses.

Someone told me a couple of years ago that we had met sometime ago - and they didn't mean in this life, but that wasn't what was spoken, it was what was inferred. (I didn't ask what was meant because I was initially stunned, for lack of a better word.)

I think this person and I are both working our ways through life and trying to get things right. I think if the two of us can get our act together and work on this life, helping each other, I think we might get it right this time around!

you made great sense, i also believe we work through this life,if not other lives,so my question to u would be,what do you think we do while in the afterlife..think about it and let me know whats in your heart in regards to this.....

I do believe in an after-life, it's always been a knowing. I can recommend some great books that have helped me on my life time search.The Seth Books, by Jane Roberts r very deep, it's taken me 10 yrs to truley understand them, & they will expand u'r conciousness beyond belief. Also The Secret confirms or re-enforces this in a simpler way. Sylvia Browne, Edger Cayce, & Mary Summer Rain's books also helped me on my journey.Ultimately all the answers r within u, they have always been there & always will b. I hope this helps a little, we're all on this journey togather.

Thanks, gypsyj, zookie, and mystery for writing on this intriguing post. Yes, I have always believed in an afterlife, moreso as I've gotten older, and witnessed signs and miracles. I believe in, and keenly feel, a very strong spiritual presence, many of us call this, "God", and/or a higher power. It is an understanding of transcendent, universal love, forgiveness, and the inter-connected web of life, of which we are all a part. I recently posted under the Spirituality Group discussion regarding death and the afterlife, about the visits that I have received from my passed dad, mom, and brother, who've appeared and spoken to me in dreams. It is truly comforting to know that they are O.K., and in good spirits!

I believe in reincarnation...I beleive we choose are next life and how were going to live it to bring as eventually to the gates of heaven...However we are given free will and can change things every single day in our lifes..Weather we do or not is our choice..I just wished I could live the way I think I should..lol..If ya know what I mean..

And I do believe in Karma..And there is no accidents..

I believe in an afterlife, but what it is or how it works is a mystery, isn't it? No one really knows, but we all have our theories and beliefs based on our culture and upbringing.

Even though I was raised as an American Baptist, I find the idea of reincarnation to be very intriguing. As I search for spiritual answers I keep going back to it because it just seems to make sense. I find it possible to reconcile reincarnation with my childhood training because if you think about it with an open mind, the story of Jesus can be seen as a kind of reincarnation. Jesus says that he has existed forever, he lived a life, then died, and rose to live another life. Also, at one point in the biblical stories, Jesus asks his disciples "who do they say I am" and his disciples say that people think he is one of several different prophets from the past. This implies a basic belief in reincarnation since they talk about it so naturally and with no denial of the possibility.

Reincarnation can explain a lot of mysteries that we encounter in life. Like that feeling of knowing someone we've never met or recognizing a place we've never been. And of course, there have been many cases of people who have extraordinary knowledge about a previous life that they feel that they lived.

Reincarnation also gives me an alternative explanation about why and what will happen to someone who, for example, is born into poverty in Africa, suffers all of their life from disease and starvation, and then dies. The Christian theory that such a person would go to Hell because they don't know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, just doesn't work for me! Doesn't seem like a very fair way for God to run things. The answer I get from my very Christian friends is that well, that's just the way it is, God's mysteries are not for us to understand, and so on. But that just doesn't work for me.

Thanks for posting this question. It has given me the opportunity to really think through what I believe. I imagine I'll continue thinking about this, searching for answers, and evolving in my beliefs until I die and actually have the experience of an afterlife!

I don't have all the details worked out, but I have faith that, as the Dylan song title says, "Death is Not the End." There's an end to a physical life here, sure, but I'm betting that's a transition to some other level/form/aspect of consciousness. I'm hoping there is reincarnation and I think chances of it being a reality are pretty good.

Unfortunately, God gets a lot of bad press from many sources. but I definitely believe that God (or whatever started the cosmic ball rolling) is real, alive, and well.
