I just watched the video...beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us Mick.

My thoughts are too many to share right now, perhaps I can somehow put them into words later. What Jill says makes me think of quantum physics. I've dabbled in this area of thought and read some of Gregg Braden's work, which speaks to this energy and this "connectedness". It's amazing and beautiful stuff.

... it is curious how, in the last section of the presentation that she refers to 'my spirit' which seems to be a bridge between the left and right brain but is also aware, as Jill puts it, of nirvana.

"We have the power to choose moment by moment how we want to be in this world," she says. How wonderful this is. How do you choose to be!?

Great video. I truly found Jill Bolte Taylor's comments about the right side of the brain to be very interesting indeed. They reminded me of some "near death experiences" that I have read about. In the midst of her describing the oneness of what she felt with the universe it was quite easy to get emotional. It would seem that this is the precise feeling many of us are seeking when we meditate. That beautiful oneness of being. We should all strive to feel and experience that.

Upon further reflection on the video ( I watched it this morning) I found her left side "thinking" to be extremely interesting as well. Her left side thinking is what enabled her to function in this world...without it she would have not been able to communicate that she was in deep trouble (with her physical body anyway) and call for help. She most likely would have died without her left brain being able to bring her back to the "reality" of her physical body.

Because we are all equipt with a left and right side of the brain. We are able to function within this world. It's a ying and yang balance. Who know's what we would "be" without both? That said, it seems to me we really should acknowledge both...at least while tethered to this "world" anyway.

By meditating we can acknowledge the right side oneness....but to bring those benefits and message back we need the left side. Ahh, life and its dualities.

I hope all is great with you and the family! Thanks for joining our little group. Yes, what an amazing video! It certainly brings into the perspective all of the things that pull us to and fro as we make our way through our 'busy' lives.

Meditation is key, as I have always said, to maintaining a balance, one foot in oneness, one in the world of time, so that you become, what my lovely wife Debora would refer to as a 'fully functioning human being'.

Hi Mick,

I learned a lot from her 18 minute presentation. It's nice to get a glimpse of her perspective as a scientist having a near death experience. Her explanations taught me that I do use both sides of my brain more evenly than I ever imagined (thought I was too grounded). I'm curious about what her research has discovered about mental illnesses.

Endorphins are a great part of the human physiology -- too bad more of us don't know how to harness them to access oneness more often. More meditation coming right up!
