Often people who are depressed, even severely, don't know that they are. This can be how they normally feel these days.

And, if you know you are, depression can cause you to lack the energy or will to get help.

Seems like he had some other very serious long-term medical issues, though.

when a person is that depressed, they just dont care. add in that level of other health problems, and his being a widower, and it can be an insurmountable task to even want to be healthy again.

having been at that level of depression myself--tho without the added health problems--i know that death can beckon like a promise of sweet relief.

i hope he is at peace now.

my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family i recently went through a death with my grandson,and my daughters grief has taken a toll on her with depression so please for your whole family get together and go to grief conciling believe me it will help all of you losing both of them so sudden can be very hard for you all to take in,go and express how you feel it will help.
