After years of avoidance, I finally went to a psychiatrist and was assessed. I have depression (not a surprise) anxiety disorder (again, not a big surprise) and ADD without hyperactivity. A 45 year old man with ADD!
My doc being a good psychiatrist placed me on medication because that is what they do... And I ran to the bookstore to find book that addressed Adult ADD which is what I do. I am still uncomfortable with the idea but I did find it a major relief to finally name a set of behaviors which have caused such chaos in my life. And I understand how anxiety and depression is a natural development from trying to live with a disorder that undermines your efforts to live up to your potential. But what a shock to the system!!
Anyone out there with a similar experience? Or like Tigger, I am the only one?
