I read your intro....and it makes sense!

One thing I find immensely helpful.....a studio. ten people in a room with easels paints, charcoal and a still life or a model....brings something out in you ...that can never be obtained doing it by yourself....

all that aside....I spend most of my time painting : alone! seems to work out OK. Theres no substitute for a studio atmosphere however.

ohhh... studio... with other people and a model!!! Luxury, sheer luxury. Maybe my little group could work up to something like that....

I have always loved drawing. Spent some time learning to watercolor, then realized I needed more drawing instruction. Took a college class in two dimensional design in Sp 06, a figure drawing class in Sp 07 and am now taking a basic drawing class which is wonderful.

I have no illusions of becoming a professional artist, but I love the process of creating. Loved Artists Way. Did that about five years ago.

Like reading about art and artists. But the process is what makes it wonderful for me.

I have joined the local Art League, but it is geared to someone in a different place--maybe eventually it would be more suited to my interests.

I would like to work more with live models after I finish this present class on drawing.

That artistic side of me has been blunted by physical and emotional problems for a couple of years, but now with hope and help, I'm starting to see a positive plan and path to get me out of where I've been and back into what my life was - no strike that! I want to come out of this with a much better intellectual and creative me! I'd like very much to hear from as many artists as possible on this thread and I will do my best to contribute all that I can.

I bought my first piece of art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art when I was 18. A birthday gift to myself. It was "Don Quixote" by Salvador Dali, an authenticated signed and numbered lithograph for $100. I think it's worth somewhat more now but I would never part with it. It represents a part of me and the Hope and Dreams that may appear to be folly to others, but to me it is the Journey that is what is all important. Determination and Faith are there to lead me and I am fighting to be led.

I hand-etch subjects into black granite monuments... tombstones if you want to call them that. I use a rotary "Dremel" type tool, diamond bits, and stipple every damn dot - I have no life. Just kidding, I have a pretty good life. anyone who can make a decent living at doing what they love better not complain too loudly.
