Hmmmm. We had a manager that came in saying he wanted his effect on us to be like cockroaches scattering when the lights come on. Well, that's all well and good if you have a bunch of loafers standing around, but when you have a group of very hard working, dedicated employees, this tactic will NOT work. You don't want your entire crew to hate you certainly, because that could backfire with such horrible consequences. It's like I stated in some earlier post somewhere along the way. You need to establish some kind of relationship with your team first. You need to define yourself and your expectations and you need to acknowledge each worker, their obstacles, their accomplishments and their realistic workable concerns. BECAUSE: Discipline without relationship equals rebellion. However, once you have established that relationship you can pretty much make your darker side be known. Be straight forward, direct, to the point. Now they know that they can trust you, you mean what you say (good and bad). They won't "play" with you. They will respect you.
