So what happens when your client gets the job because of their Improved image and confidence, only to have the covers thrown off when they can't do the job? A polished turd is still a turd.

Having a polished image won't get you the job, you have to be qualified. But it will help you build confidence and help others have confidence in you. And a positive attitude won't hurt ;)

Seems like I read somewhere that beautiful people do, in fact, get hired more often than those of us something less than beautiful. Any thoughts or metrics on that?

Oh my, yes! That is true that more attractive people not only get hired over their less attractive peers, but they also make more money. From own experience with humble looks and advancing years, I can confirm that fact :-) Any other thoughts on the effect of the aging process on careers?
