I'm beginning to see a pattern in how I write. I spend about 2/5ths of my story in the intro and set up for the event, 2/5ths in the event itself, and then make a quick exit, usually a paragraph or two.
Is there a general formula about how much time within a short should be devoted to the different phases of the story? (I'm thinking my long intros and quick exits are lack of expertise, but that's a different discussion.)
I may not be asking this well, so I welcome clarifying questions.
Thanks.
