Recently, Akabukowski introduced the concept of 250-word fiction to TWG. I rolled this idea around for awhile, though it wasn’t until I actually attempted it, did I have any idea of the challenges this form can present.
Actually, it’s only 246 words – I kept back 4 for revision..
Comments : Was a story told in 250 words?

Angel peered at the doorway through a fold in the bedcovers. It was quiet – the wailing had stopped, for now. Straining to hear, he sensed her presence in the hallway outside his door.
Laying motionless, barely breathing, he watched as she appeared, phantom-like, in the doorway, a shadowy figure dimly visible in the sparse light cast down the hall. She knew he was awake.
Sometimes she left after a few minutes. Other times…
Angel was tired – and numb to his torment. He was her creation - molded and formed for fourteen years, and now, had become her prey.
Overwhelmed by the weakness in his limbs, his breath stifled by fear, he closed his eyes as she approached and threw back the blanket. Looking up, he saw the knife in her hand, and stared into the black oval where her face should be.
“Angel“, she whispered, placing her hand on his chest. Stroking him gently, at first, and then harder – raking him with her nails.
A cry came from the next room – his younger sister in a bad dream.
She rose quickly, whirled around, and followed the sound out of the room.
“Mama, no!”
Snap.
Angel stared at the door, as the paralyzing fear vanished – leaving behind a hate-fueled rage in its place. Screams in the night, blood on his chest…no more.
Another cry – this time, a scream from Jessie’s room.
Clutching the hammer from under the mattress, Angel ran to his sister’s room.
