Okay, Milt T. Your reply to the discussion, Triple Digits, got me to get up the gumption and go. I'm putting my best foot forward by offering the most recent thing I wrote that I felt good about (that wasn't for work, anyway.) Please help me understand if this connects with the reader or is simply self-indulgent wordplay (or therapy as it actually was). Thank you!
Meltdown
“If you said that…”
“I did.”
“What I’m saying is, if you did say that…”
“Brother, I’m telling you I did. I remember!”
My eyes flash out with anger;
My words lash out at the offender.
Some frequency released by his challenge to my conceit –
a mere splinter of offended pride –
Slashes my retina, splashes all with crimson stain, and
I see red.
Shame is the searing afterimage of an exploding conceit.
