Do y'all just type your stories in this little window? It's driving me nuts.
I'd like to use Word or even Notepad, then just cut and paste the finished work to here. Will that work?

Yes ...I use MSWord ..clean the story up..copy-n-paste..then preview .. edit where needed. ..submit.
I find that much less painful than having to deal with this TBD posting page, that has a bad habit of "evaporating for ghostly reasons"..

Dallas,
Easiest and best to use Word and cut and paste. You'll still have the ability to edit your text once you've "posted" it. Once you're ready to post, just start a discussion and load the text.
Looking forward to seeing your work.

If you type it here, it means it isn't a finished story but a very rough draft. We try to polish any story we post here so that people do not have to read unedited work, incomplete ideas and sentences that look like they escaped from a Mixmaster.
Write in your word processor. Edit there, too. Polish it before you submit it or you will find that at Tier II level, it will be ignored or worse yet, flayed.
Cutting and pasting not only works, it is the only way you will have something worth others' effort to read it. Remember, when you put something out there, you are asking people to take their time and use their skills to review it for you. So, only your best work here, please.
Typing on the site is strictly for comments, not for stories.

Be aware characters typed in MSWord won't always transfer cleanly to TBD. Smart quote marks, I believe, are invisible to TBD so it replaces them here with blank boxes. I've seen other characters replaced with hash marks or garbage.
I suggest you write your work in MSWord. When you've finished editing and are ready to post here, paste it into WordPad or even NotePad (assuming you have a PC.) Look it over and make sure all your text characters are correct and present. Then copy and paste that into TBD. This mid-step will make sure all of MSWord's text characters are converted into straight ACII text, which is what TBD uses.

Thanks, everyone. Word-to-ASCII will work just fine.
I'll pass on the feedback: no good for my speakers. Critiques are fine, however. You punks can't make me cry.

Hi Dallas, I am really new to the writing process, and have had a few serious critiques. You will find that the critiques may sting just a little, but if you sit back and take a serious look, most are dead on. Having that tough Tiger skin will keep you safe!! Peace.
