When a person sees success doing things one way (behaving one way, saying certain things, making certain decisions, etc.), he/she tends to do those same things again.

Makes sense, right? Hey, this good thing happened when I did this, so I will continue to do that same thing, again and again and again. Even if what he/she did was a "bad" behavior. To the individual, HEY, this got me a promotion. I'll do that again.

So I think that instead of business owners being too "busy," they see success and think that they don't need to know different or new viewpoints. So they may not go to seminars.

Also, managers never "need" training, right? But employees do, right? Oh, boy.

Of course, there is also the point that the value participants can get out of seminar isn't described clearly.

There comes a time in business ownership when you must distance yourself from the day to day operations of the business, otherwise it can consume your life. I have seen it happen and have consulted owners at what point they need to save themselves.

Then there are those who refuse to pull back and are giving 200% (in other words have created a job for themselves) doing what they have been doing, not seeing or hearing that they can do things differently or efficiently.

Then there are still others who are just that - business owners, who leave the running of the business to professionals and just read the financial reports each quarter.

Maybe it is because many business owners see these seminars as too broad in scope.

That their particular concerns, interests or areas of needed improvement are too specific to be covered by these business seminars.
