Loving Someone with Bipolar Disorder - Fast & Preston, Feb 2004.
This book reads like, "Everything You Always Wanted To Know About [spouse name goes here]"...insightful, explains a lot, it was an eerie read. My mother-in-law was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder long before I met my wife... neither of them ever talked about it, and I was consciously ignorant that it was hereditary. My experience... prepare to drift along a listless meandering river that can turn into Class 5 rapids in a moment of stress. The key is to be calm... it helps to be communicative, and considerate. I do alright on those two, but I flunked calm... stress is a no-no. Maybe I'm related to Tigger... my antics were part of the problem, and I didn't realize it. I went over the falls without a barrel... but, it's water under the bridge for me now because she and I are history.
Anyway, I thought I'd recommend this book to those of you who are trying to navigate these waters... and open it up to see if anyone else had some reading to recommend.
