Dear members,
Sent the following to our esteemed and beloved BettyRay privately, but will share it now, in this new (and savvy and much needed) group setting:
"I've been meaning to write you for some time about an aspect that disturbs me. I have at least a handful of good, smart, balanced friends whom I would like to invite to join this site. But every time I decide to do so I take a look at the discussions scrolling on the homepage and change my mind. I don't want my friends to have to wade through "licking and sucking," "Boobs!" "anal sex" to find the higher order content.
I expect I'm not the first to bring this up. Is some kind of retooling under discussion?"
In defense of my position I am neither prude nor ignorant of the beneficence bestowed and guaranteed by the First Amendment. Nor are my friends a bunch of high-handed intellectual elitists who would, dare I say it, scratch, sniff, and scoff.
I's just a a matter of presentation.
In my view one of TBD's grandest paradoxes is the scrolling "Discussions" feature on the home page. I am riveted by it, I admit. But I wonder at its appeal for the newcomer, the first-time visitor.
Enough said. BettyRay, this group is a fine idea whose time has come, for all the right reasons: TBD continues to grow and gain "market share." As well it should.
Your faithful member and correspondent,
- akabukowski
