I got yer projects galore RIGHT here...

Sunday, started a crocheted baby blanket out of pink sport-weight yarn. Monday, decided I hated the color and the yarn, so went and bought a different pink yarn (so much for decreasing the stash!) and started again.

Also on Sunday, warped the Schacht Flip loom with fine cotton for a table runner. Started weaving on Tuesday, using up stash yarns (yay me!) and bits of contrasting yarns and wools here and there. I'm using tapestry weaving and yarn on hand, so who knows what will come out of it.

Several weeks ago, started a hat to use up all those tail ends of sock yarn. I'm striping it with cream-colored yarn and all the odds and ends of other stuff I have. Right now the project is buried somewhere under the growing piles of hand-spun in my living room.

Last weekend, finished spinning, washing, and skeining the last of a pound of yellow superwash merino. This is destined to be a blanket for my son's best friend's first baby, due in September. At least the spinning part is done.

Also last weekend, finished spinning, washing, and skeining another 20 grams of merino laceweight from my drop spindle. I'm getting around 250 yards for the 20 grams, so I'm hoping to have around 1000 yards by the time I'm done with the little bags of merino I have. And then I'll make a lace scarf for my mother.

Still on hold... I'm collecting the hair from my ragdoll cat. I've spun up a small skein from her fur, and it feels a whole bunch like rabbit.

Taking up bobbins on the spinning wheel: handpainted superwash merino top, delicious beyond words. Also some black baby alpaca,so luscious that I want to crawl into the bag with it.

I know NOTHING about making paper, but I love using the output of those who do. I'm already buried in fiber... the last thing I need is another hobby!!!

WOW!! I am impressed. My projects seem to all be on hold since I have opened my quiet house and existence of 3 adults and one dog to now include 2 additional adults with 5 kids and a dog! My only project at the presence is to find quiet time for me. The crocheting and jewelry design will have to wait--only a short time, I hope-- until we develope a workable routine. Vivian

Thanks for posting this. I really want to see more exchange between us especially the fiber artists. I'm in transition right now - but feel more like Viviana. Katherine and Papermaven - I am in awe of all your energy and projects. I'm a teacher and I have endless papers to grade at the moment. I have set my lace knitting aside because I am too tired to do it accurately. I have picked up old yucky acrylic yarns and am doing what I call "nervous knitting," This is mindless stuff I can do after I have graded as many papers as my mind can stand. I'm doing what is now called mitre or mosaic knitting - something I learned in a workshop from Horst Schulz. I am simply knitting squares. I do plan to warp the loom and get to some weaving soon and have been working on a camel silk blend as far as the spinning goes - but soon (SOON) I will have more time and hope to get back to creative frenzy!

Oh, Papermaven, I forgot to say - I have made paper but it has never been beautiful like the gorgeous washi papers I have seen in Japan. I adore paper and sometimes do kusudama (Japanese geometric three dimensional paper objects).

Viviana and I were talking about knitting wire a while backa nd I thought I's send a small photo of one of my mixed media sculptures with knitted copper wire.

Those sculptures are very nice. My knitting with wire skills are extremely limited. But here are some photos of a few knitted projects. I am really enjoying felting. The baskets are very useful and make great gifts. I had to model the baby hat on a teddy bear, no baby would take the modeling job...
