Checking in: Works in Progress for July

There are 67 members of this creative outlets group (as of today) - so surely we are working (even if lazily) on some interesting things. I thought perhaps it would be a good idea to have a Checking In space where we could show what we are doing at the moment, solicit help and encouragement and just chat about our inspiration, lack of it or frustrations.

Tell us and/or show us what you are working on right now, how it is progressing, what you like about it or don't like about it, ask for help or just complain. Here is a space to do so.

Here is what I am working on right now - an afghan that will eventually ( I hope) be 9 squares by 5 - I'm up to the fourth row now - but keep ripping out squares that I don't like - I think I would be done by now if I would stop that behavior!!

They are made out of wire/ribbon and quilt batting

I don't know, Merry, this is really my nervous knitting project - it is just sometimes I get too ambitious for my own good!

I like to look at Berdorf Goodman's site. There are a certain amount of excellant hand made items where the person who made them is being paid a decent wage. That has a way of renewing my interest and resolve to improve my abilities. I don't think that you are too ambitious/ I think that you are really good and can take a design and translate it into something amazing. For July, I need to reorganize myself and my work area, I have an interest in recycling materials and the the unfinished quilt here is made from a fabric sample book for futon covers and a large piece of second hand black fabric, maybe cotton & linen?

This one is a sleeper that I would like to finish!

Nightly I sleep under one of these. The warmest, most comfortable thing ever. My kids' great grandmother on mom's side made some of these. Now gramma on mom's side makes these real thick comfortable blankets that are warm. Gotta love these women. And I do.

Being a musician, I am working on a newer project. Just last night on the 4th of July learned how to record onto and with the Roland Keyboard. Not easy. Then I had to learn to mix the mess I recorded. Then I had to learn how to save what was recorded onto the 4 gig flash card I shoved into the thing. Then just this afternoon after a five mile jog did I learn to recall the file I saved. Sounds ok I guess. I began writing lyrics just ten minutes ago. If, when I finish the thing and if I find that it is worthy and I don't delete the final mp3 file, I may throw it up on my usual spots, www.garageband.com, www.indiecharts.com and www.reverbnation.com so it can be ignored like all the other songs I have there.

I just finished this painting for my brother. I am not sure how this photo will post. There's another in works that I hope to complete tonight. It's raining, so

I may as well paint something. :-)
