My big guy just got glasses. I'm SOOOO happy. He's been squinting for a while, but swearing he could see just fine. I KNEW he couldn't. I had to get glasses at this very same age, so I felt that this might be coming.
Since he found out about this (last Thursday night) he has wavered between being excited to see, and being terrified that the kids will tease him. I understand that fear very well. I was one of the most picked on kids in school. So it's been hard for me to try to tell him, 'oh don't worry about it'.
Anyway, we picked up the glasses tonight and I think he looks adorable!!! He's actually pretty happy with them. More than anything he's very happy that he can see without sitting directly under the television, or squinting, or holding his book up to his nose. Tomorrow will be the first day of determining how much validity there is to his fear of teasing and taunting. I think I'm more nervous about it than he is. But I refuse to let HIM know that.
Anyone else have a child that went into glasses early in life? Did you?

What a face!!!
