Kids say the Darndest things!!!

I thought I would start this thread as a way of tracking some of the fabulous, funny, inspirational, and just darn right CUTE things that our kids have said, and continue to amuse us with.

One of my favorite stories is of my oldest boy, now 7 years old. When he was about 4 years old we were reading a Mickey Mouse book about children from around the world. I got to the page about children from the Philippines and Bennett stopped me and said, "Oh, mommy, those are BAD people!" My jaw dropped and I said, "Where would you get that idea, honey?" - "Well, the bible says they're bad people" . . . I broke out into such loud laughter that I startled him. And then I corrected him gently with . . . "No, honey, those are the PhiliSTINES, not the Philippines."

We had helium balloons at my husband's 50th Birthday party. My little one calls the 'ceilium' balloons and actually corrected me when I tried to help him pronounce it 'HElium'. . . "NO, It's CEILIUM, mom . . . because they float up to the ceiling!"

Seriously, how can you argue with logic like that from a 4 year old!

I took Carter (4) out of the tub, dried him off, and wrapped the towel around him under his arms. He said, "This looks like a dress". Then, with a very distinct sashay of his hips, he walked into Bennett's room and said, "Hey Bennett, I look like a hot woman!"

My 2 1/2 year old son is potty training...and a couple of nights ago, as we were getting ready for bed, asked to use the potty! He ran his naked little butt into the bathroom, got up on the potty (he uses the big one!) looked up at me and said, just as seriously as can be...

"Mommy, I maybe have poop stuck in my butt!"

Too funny . . . Potty training DOES tend to lead to some funny stories.

My funniest potty training story was when my big guy was potty training and he literally YELLED through the house, "MOM, my poop is stinkier than a man's armpit!" WELL, thank you for THAT lovely analogy!

I still like the story about your little one loving your hairy legs in the morning! (That's actually what made me think about starting this group and this thread)

We, like everyone else nowadays, signed onto the positive parenting style. We don't tell kids to just "be quiet"; we explain what voice to use at what time.

When our oldest boy was about 2 1/2, he and I were eating lunch on the patio of a neighborhood restaurant. Suddenly, out of the blue, he just screams "AAAAAH!" at the top of his lungs. When I (and everyone else) stared at him to see what was wrong, he said "That's an outside voice. We're outside, and that's an outside voice!" And went back to eating.

Ah, if only life stayed that simple...

My son is very sensitive to smells. One day I heard him coughing from the bathroom. I asked if he was OK. He said "I'm choking on my poop!"
