Hard to say without more details but here's my gut reaction...
I believe that if he is thinking he wants his wife back he needs to do what it takes to make his marriage work.

Why would he not want both? Don't most of us want it all? What's up with this is that the guy is human. Unfortunately he probably lives in a world, as do most of the rest of us, where he can't have everything he wants. What he can have will depend on his wife, his lover, the courts, etc.

He's having an affair....he's been found out....his wife says it' s over...he will be moving out in Sepember....he at first avoids the lover...then the affair seems to start over again....he and the lover seem not to be able to stay away from each other....he says he wants his wife back...he wants to go on vacation with the lover.
Your thoughts?
Sounds like he is quite a player. And it sounds like the lover is perfectly happy sharing him.
I don't see a down side for him. Plenty of down for the ladies.
He probably will choose the wife if she will have him back.
