Date: Sept 19 - 21
Location: Lincoln City, OR

Lodging: CarlaSue has a beachfront hotel in mind as our first choice.

Transportation: Fly into Portland (PDX), then drive to Lincoln City ~ 2.5 hrs. Might be a good time to carpool!
(Or get that magnetic sign and make a traveling billboard for TBD... one that just happens to hold a gaggle of migrating TBD members!)

I can put something together. I think! Need input on what to do. July and August are NOT good months usually at the beach. If it's hot in the valley it's foggy and cold at the beach. June or Sept??? Lincoln City.... Newport????

Let me know what sounds good. I can research hotels... fun stuff to do. This will be so much fun!

CarlaSue, I will let you do all of the planning if you like!!

So were you thinking arrive Fri Night/Sat AM with festivities Saturday afternoon-evening, leave Sunday?

As far as location, look at proximity to airports. I'll probably drive, but hopefully some out of town folk will want to Meet by the Sea.

I've only ever been to the coast in late July or early August. It's always windy, but not terribly cold even as far north as Ft Stevens. (Clam-diggers and a hoodie... mind you I don't actually go very far into the ocean, so water temps weren't really what I was considering.)

Shame it isn't easier to predict the weather. You can, however compare the daily tide charts... we want a Saturday pm with a low tide.

P.S. I've already promised to spend June 20th in Montana. Please don't make me choose! ;^)

D2 I was thinking about a Friday and Sat nite thing. You'd have to fly into Portland, then Lincoln City,(that would be my first choice) is about a 2 to 2-1/2 drive. I'm thinking the weekend of 9/19/08 ????? Input please from anyone interested.

Lincoln City is a good choice, we stayed at the KOA there last summer. (No pool, but a big playground.) It's very close to many nice beaches... my favorite spot is accessed from the Devil's Punchbowl parking area.

That's the one, thanks for moving it for me. Lincoln City has a Hotel right on the beach, and right down town so you can walk to eateries (I know the very best place for steamer clams) bars / shopping.

Mmmm Okay, you have my vote!

We'll have to find someone with rental horses, I promised the Pair a beach ride at Cannon Beach last year, but we decided to hit the Zoo on the way back through Portland instead.

This is going to be great... my favorite vacation destination and good friends!
