Are you kidding - of course scents bring back memories. I think it's similar to muscle memory - where your body just goes on 'overdrive' when certain muscle routines are initiated. Certain odors just bring back events back to mind.

The smell of vanilla pipe tobacco always makes me think of my dad.

Lavender reminds me of my grandmother.

When I was young, my grandparents had a snackbar/nursery where everyone stopped on their way to the beach. They were busy and I just spent the days entertaining myself. There was an old house on the property used for storage. It was in pretty bad shape and I was not supposed to go in there, but what's a curious girl to do? I would nose around for a bit, plundering through books (some rather racy), clothes, records, etc... The place spelled of Coppertone because they stored all the stuff they sold there too. Since I am supposed to keep it clean, I won't tell you about all of my explorations, but suffice it to say...Coppertone reminds me of doing naughty things.
