I think it is a worthwhile adventure, in moderation and discretion. I think one should employ his/her same personal standards in selecting a "partner" for an online encounter in the same manner one would choose a partner for a personal encounter.

That being said, it is safer, in many ways, and can be stimulating, especially for married people wanting to pep up their sex lives a bit.

Here's another thought: many would consider this form of sex to be cheating on their current real life partner(s)!

No, no. It was all platonic, I assure you. We would hold up cardboard signs with writing on them (it was before sound) and exchange ideas on politics, the stock market, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary in any way. ....What the hell is happening to my nose?

Technology has become more and more ingrained into our daily lives, and it is a double-edged sword IMHO. For example, blackberries, cell phones and other PDA's enable us on the one hand to be productive while not "in the office" but invades our personal time. i-Pods allow us to hear our favorite music all of the time, anywhere, but block us out from experiencing the "here & now"...Getting to the actual point of this discussion, I think I would only find this enjoyable if I had already had sex with the person on the other end, but circumstances were somehow keeping us apart, thus acting as an enabler. To do this with a stranger in lieu of real sex, invites too much of a "technology induced social disconnection" for me...would rather wait for the real thing. : )
