I would agree with that. My tastes have become less "picky" as far as appearance and other superficial things, but MORE "picky" as far as internal things like personality traits, intelligence, etc. I also find myself more interested in people who have different experiences and ideas than my own...people I can learn new things from.

I'd have to agree with JD on his response.

I find myself looking for someone with more of an "understanding" of my viewpoint, while not having to agree with it. Where, when I was much younger, I looked for looks first (no I haven't died yet so I still look for a pleasing smile) I want something/someone much deeper than that. I want to be in a position to teach AND learn from a woman. A relationship that exchanges ideas on any subject.

I have become more picky than I was in my younger years. I had not idea what to look for then. But have I learned! I have found that different is not always bad, but never, ever compromise your principials. This is only a brief beginning.

I don't think I have changed any....since I didn't stop at looks...I wanted to get past that first.

You know, it's funny how a woman's life is broken up into so many segments.....when you are young you look for the best possible mate for children....after you have the children you want a good provider.....when the children are older you want a friend.....after menopause you are more self- centered(not in a neg.way) that you want to do your own thing and have sex once in a while. Well more then once in a while but you see where I'm heading.

I think that we all learn from experiences. In my younger years I was concerned with trying to be what my partner wanted me to be. Now I am more confident and don't want to give up myself. Having been out of the loop for 26 years and just starting dating again it's hard to say what I am looking for but I am definitely less interested in looks and more interested in how he fits in with my life and how he treats me.

There is a great book written by a female physician about how different our brains really are. Pre-menopause we try to make everyone happy. Post-we look to make ourselves happy.
