Sometimes you gotta laugh

At some of the gender-based ideologies, we grew up with. One in particular caused me no end of consternation. The idea that guys/males were supposed to go out into the world and bed as many women as possible yet women were taught to remain virginal til marriage. I was like,"How in the hell is this supposed to work?" Who would be the women the guys would bed if all of them were busy being virginal til marriage, unless the guy marries a woman has sex with her, divorces, and moves on to the next . . . But divorce was supposed to be a no-no, too?????? (and I know some of you women will say there are guys that do that now and there are but women are catching up in that category.)

It amazes me that some people still think this way. They want young men to bed many women....well if you do that where are the virgins. Oh yea, they're the slightly unattractive or nerdy girls. If women are with multiple partners she's a slut, if guys do the same he's a stud. What hypocrisy.

I think the fact that there is so little response here Tony, is an indicator that it (cheating) is happening as we speak, but not many people are gonna put it on the web. Every one wants to be happy and struggles daily to balance ethics and morality with those things that make us happy. In the end if there is a void, statitics indicate that we do what we have to for peace, and sometimes for a piece...LOL... Being lonely, frustrated and sometimes in need of some form of intimacy will inspire even the the most faithful people to stray.

Well Tony, I always felt that its all a bunch of rubbish. My mother encouraged me to lose my virginity to the one I love, which I did.. as for waiting till marriage? This lady sure as HELL wasnt going to buy a car without test driving it first :)

As far as double standards go, this one is why up there. In Western societies, sexually active women suffer some degree of social stigma (your mileage will vary relative to your social surroundings). In some other parts of the world, women are beaten, tortured, subjected to forced marriages, and even killed to "wash away" the family's shame.

As an example, and I DO NOT (repeat DO NOT) want to delve into politics, in the liberated Iraq, their new constitution brought back discrimination against women and the so-called honor killings and women's opinion in courts is 50% of the value of a man's.

Is this still how we think? Right now I'm not interested in a "serious" relationship. I have no problem accepting that my female friends (yes, FWB's) that I occasionally sleep with may have other partners. I don't think any less of them as a result. My single friends my age (40's) all feel the same. We all know that if we expect monogamy then we will have to practice it too! I think this stereotype is generational and disappearing fast.
