Hmmmmmm.... I think there's a possiblity that it's due to the differences in the way males and females are wired.

In general, (and I really don't like to generalize, but for the sake of discussion...) men are more visual and women are more sensory-based.

Hence the reason there is more porn and strippers geared towards men.

Also... the thought just occurred to me that it could also be due to the fact that there is still a bit of a double standard when it comes to male and female sexuality.

Women who embraced their sexuality years ago... hell, decades ago.... were shunned and labelled... so having toys... something they could use in private... was essential to them keeping their "lady in the streets" status. There has always been prostitutes and xrated entertainment for men... but until recent history, the same relief for women was a rare thing.

I would only add that men are beginning to find ways of enjoying themselves with lots of different toys. Speaking for myself, sometimes alone, and sometimes with my partner. A couple of thoughts on this...

First (just cause I'm a lesbian) a lot of lesbians don't use toys. I've had friends who worked at Good vibrations (and Toys at Babeland), most of the women buyers are het (and happily so).

Generally, I think most women prefer to use toys with their partners, not in place of their partners.

And I don't think it's a matter of an inability to satisfy. One thing though, a lot of men are pretty much done once they orgasm. Women can go on longer.
