Sounds like you have been busy. Just got the lawn mowed. Hope to get the beds cleaned and containers planted. Also have a hillside need to spray grass out of so no more mowing, new bed to put in middle of lawn, fire pit to set up and garden to get planted. Getting late for that. So move to top of list. Enough to keep me busy for a few days. Love the bird house.

Here in upper Midwest we're subject to frost until around mid May so haven't really gotten a lot done yet in the way of container planting. Have some flats stored in the garage so I will probably start playing in the dirt next week.

Just got past what hopefully is the last frost for us for this spring.

Finally was able to mow Saturday. With all the rain we've had, my back yard has been under water much of the time - and that is with my drain system installed.

heirloom plant sale here this coming weekend. I will probably load up on tomato plants again. I usually get 10 or 12 plants. That is way more than the four of us can use, but I take my extras to the emergency homeless shelter for their supper.

Need to do something with the lilacs. Ants are in the roots and the bushes are dying.

Hopefully I can rototil up the vegetable garden on Friday.

At least the tulips came up nicely this year. The bunnies left them alone for once.

I love lilac's but down here in the south they do not produce the huge fragrant blooms that I grew up with in Maine. They are much smaller and the fragrance is not as strong. Maybe I will come across a variety that will do better here. Can you use the granulars to help with the ants? I use the 'Elimanator' granulars from Walmart and make sure and put them over and around the area and then water them in lightly. It activates immediately and works great for me. If you need to do an entire yard or large area then spread the Eliminator when it is drizzling rain or just starting to rain and then it soaks up into the ground as well.

My lillies are starting to put out some buds now. The peony bloomed good this year and is on its way by now.

Hi, new here! We moved two years ago from an 80 acre farm to a house in town with thee smallest yard. Nice house, nice landscaping, if you like rocks and lots of them! The only thing they had planted was a lot of lilies! We were told by neighbors that once the lilies ceased blooming, they stuck artificial flowers in the ground the rest of the year! This is our 3rd summer here, and I am continuing to add to the lilies and remove rock and fill in with real live flowers! My favorites: purple coneflower, black-eyed susans, bleeding hearts, lavender, hollyhocks, any of the heirloom type plants my great grandma used to plant! I just planted 11 peony bushes last week. I had to save them from my father, he was going to pour concrete over them if I didn't!

I miss my flowers on the farm, I had several beds, of which my favorite I called my primitive garden. Here's a picture:
