There is no answer to the existence of a central whatever BUT what I do know is he,she,it, them did not set down a bunch of impossible rules that no one could follow & then send us to Hell for disobeying.
I suspect whatever force is in charge of "All of This" cares not a wit about us as a species.

Somtimes i feel that same way too, thats one of the reasons that IM not a Christain, but im not agreeing with the force dosn't care about this spicies.

Atheist is a bad word, much like "liberal" used to be bad. I think "rationalist" is a better term. I'm a rationalist, but yes, I normally keep mum about it. I'm new to TBD and figured, what the hey, might as well start posting random thoughts. I grew up without religion (my mom's family was Buddist, my dad's Christian), and I find that I'm just as moral, decent, responsible, and compassionate as those who are religious. I don't believe in heaven - which was really hard for me when my dad died a few years ago. I found no comfort in his death, only loss. I do believe strongly in the separation of church and state and nothing gets me more riled up than reading about our school systems promoting Intelligent Design. Give me a break!

I don't know what label I fit under, I guess the closest is agnostic.
Whatever, I am, I am certainly not religious. In that vein of the religion I was taught as a child served only to defeat the spirituality I may have been born with.

Ahh, atheist isn't a bad word; it's a title to be proud of, thank you. I left those agnostic insecurities behind in my 20s. However, I don't have the answer to life which is what every Christian has ever asked me for when I disclosed my beliefs. Good grief. They don't have the answer either; they just have a story that comforts them. There's a wonderful book by Richard Dawkins, that can help you clarify your beliefs; it's called "The God Delusion." It's an excellent read.
