I get the strange irony of that, and I get why you're not en fuego for Hillary. Me, I have never been over the moon for any candidate save Bobby Kennedy when I was 15. Since then I've watched the Republicans methodically, shrewdly, and quite successfully bury their personal fancies and rally around the superior candidate whatever his foibles. 'Bout time we on the Dem side, did the same. And this is not to say that Hillary is that candidate. She's got negatives to knock down in the primaries to prove herself.

All that said, I think she will win (though it will be bloody), and will make a very good president at a time of unprecedented challenge, and truly will make history. The big question mark: can she keep the big dog on the porch? "Cause if he strays off . . . game over, I'm afraid.

I have nothing to add to what Oldmother has written. I'm just chiming in with her sentiments ...except I am too old to have been told that I could one day be President. In my youth it was someday I could marry him!

i gotta tell you, i feel bad that i can;t get behind her for the simple reason that she is a woman-brilliant-also quite dysfunctional in my humble-a woman who subordinated herself to stand by her man. i don't want to sound right winged evangelical here but bill clinton showed no respect to the office-talk about pathologically narcissist-and she enabled him-for years before he finally got caught. i can't get over that-do you know how many kids across this country started having oral sex in high school because "it wasn't sex?" just ask planned parenthood-i did stories about this phenom-my 3 daughters were all that age-their girlfriends would sit at my kitchen table talking about it-

i'm sorry, it is a moral thing for me. now they're a united front again-why? because they're reaching for the next brass ring. i say they've swung enough. let someone else have a chance.

and i feel bad cuz she's a woman and i want to vote for her just because she is-her brilliance does not overshadow her low sense of self worth to me-otherwise, she could not have tolerated all that she did for many years before he got caught. monica l was just one of his many 'one night stands'-all cool-just don't denigrate the executive office and think there's no consequence. it was never the sex that pissed me off-it was the audacious arrogance that somehow he was just a little bit better than....so he could get away with using his power to manipulate a young girl into thinking it was ok to get him off in the oval office. i still get pissed off thinking about it.

richard nixon and bill clinton are responsible for this cynicism that permeates our culture. i still have hope-even after bush's 8 years of bullshit-that there is a leader out there that will give us hope that any of them can be trusted to perform beyond their own blind ambitions.

It's a little scary that after 8 years in the White House and 8 year in the Senate, that Hillary Clinton has NOT been honest with America and told us that Medicare and Social Security are in serious trouble.

Does anyone realize that Medicare is broke! Does anyone realize that current government payment in the form of S/S are subsidized by the sale of bonds which will have to be paid out again with interest. So for every dollar we spend on Social Security we will one day have to pay back $2 plus interest?

Your kids are going to pay it, and it's not going to be pretty. Chances are right now, that the US is heading head first into a depression within a few years.

Hillary can tout any new social program, but she isn't addressing that fact that she is replacing the failed programs like Medicare with anything. She will add more burden to the nations debt which using modern business accounting methodology is around $57 TRILLION dollars.

I'm open to discussion of fixing the problems right now facing America, and terrorism isn't on my radar screen, it's the bankruptcy of America and the detention of it's citizens in a police state.

I want a candidate who can actually address the REAL issues and who isn't afraid to say what's BROKE!:

Get rid of Medicare, expand HMO membership through the funding you put into Medicare and all persons in America will have health coverage because for every single person it costs to have in medicare, it could pay for 4 people in an HMO... drill for the 1 trillion barrels of oil that sits below the mountains in Colorado, the truth is the #1 and #2 oil importers into the USA are Canada and Mexico.... build more Nuclear Plants, they produce zero carbon emissions and reduce our use of fossil fuels...

Keep the tax rate low, and allow people to invest part of their taxable incomes in private investment accounts. I guarantee you, if the stock market flop, social security will be worthless because it's funded solely by the sale of bonds... which the Chinese hold a 60% stake in.

While I get the moral indignation, and can understand it, I have to take issue with the idea that accepting, permitting or overlooking Bill's infidelity reflects low self worth. Maybe, just maybe, it reflects a very high level of self worth, because she knows her value in the world is defined much more broadly than just in a traditional wifely role. Lots of folks on this very site converse about open relationships, where both parties to a marriage agree and live by certain guidelines. I have no idea what agreements play a part in anyone else's marriage, and I am not going to assume that a couple as powerful, smart and media conscious are necessarily operating under a conventional definition of marriage. Maybe she is not tolerating it, she is a partner to a sex addict and allows this part of him its place. Maybe their shared views on what this nation, this world, could become, is more important to their relationship then who has sex with who.

I don't know what is behind the scenes, and we'll never know because this country is not ready to elect a president that far outside of the mainstream...if any of what I postulate is true, she sure can't say so!

I'm not sure who to vote for either, except I agree with David that once the primaries result in a candidate, we need to give up our smaller differences and circle our wagons around that individual. No matter what we think about his or her sex life.
