I use bleach to kill the dustmites (real or imagined). For years I've tried to save $$$ on duvet covers by not getting any...but the blankets take so long to dry. The feather beds are laid out in the sun once or twice a year, sprayed with clorox clean-pup and allowed to dry. The fact is, they have to be replaced pretty regularly.
