This year I picked up the dry leaves and grass clippings, and have been using them for traction on the ice. Shovelling the acre down to the chickens is no longer reasonable. Shoveling the chickens out is tough work, too. The leaves provide traction and attract the heat of the sun to further eliminate the ice. Anything I dont use, I will put into the tomato garden as mulch.
