With the economy in a recession, the country in a war, and with her record on the subject, Why is Hillary Clinton talking about health care?

Clearly: she's doing it in order to appeal to the many, many millions of Americans who either have absolutely no health insurance, or whose coverage is prohibitively unsatisfactory. Even for the "well insured", the annual deductible and per office visit co-payment is impossible for many to afford.
Then, there are the votes of the retirees, or those soon to be. How will they be able to afford the rapidly escalating needs and costs of medical care in the future? This sub-population includes the vast numbers of Boomers. I think she has hit a political nerve, if people will listen. Sooner or later, the costs of medical care will have to be addressed!

I can't help but think of Bill Clinton's old motto "it's the economy..."
Dont misunderstand, I think that the state of our healthcare system, along with our educational system is appalling.
There are many valid issues, but if you were a candidate, what issue would you choose to run on?

The issue I would run on if I was a candidate, would be less intrusion on parents to educate and provide health care themselves. I believe YOU are the best judge to do that, then what politicians have done. Just look at the mess we have today, to prove my point.

I am glad to know that you admit we are in a recession. All but, Dr. Ron Paul said we are in one, in a debate, last month.

Mostly it is the Democrats that quote the 47 million uninsured Americans. This figure is taken from a national survey by the "Senseless Bureau". This is the break down :
16 million have an income of over $50,00.00 and have chosen to remain uncovered, 14 million are eligible for medicare but have not enrolled, plus 5 million are children, and 10 million are illegal immigrants. Of the 7 million others, they are looking for jobs and will soon be covered.
The uncovered are 3 million not 47. So, should people earning over $50,00.00 and illegals be "given free health insurance"?
And, where in the US Constitution does it say it is the federal government's responsibility to provide health insurance. It is your responsibility!

I totally agree that the government intrudes far too much (at far too great a cost to the taxpayer). The less government the better. It's clear to me that these politicians have far too much time on their hands. Their positions should be converted to PART-TIME.

Good insurance does not necessarily assure good medical care. It does however, guarantee that medical costs will continue to rise.
