Do you agree that taxpayers should pay for candidates' campaigns that want to be elected to a political office ? If not, where should the funds come from ?

No campaign money comes from candidates rallying and organizing it. Sometimes if necessary it should come out of the candidates own bank certainly not the taxpayers though.

Chewbaca,
I think the only amount that should be allowed to be spent on any campaign shoud come from the funds generated from our tax returns.
Thats the line just above line # 1 on the 2007 form 1040.

Advantage, thanks for your reply.
You know that YOU, the tax payer, do not contribute this dollar from your tax refund. But, that one dollar of your taxed money goes to funds given to candidates.
One candidate, for president, will surely not accept "free" campaign funds.
That is Dr. Ron Paul. He never has and never will. It is all donated money from individuals.
He has not signed into the health or retirement plans for congressional persons in all the years he has been in office (20). He returns all unused office funds. He doesn't travel to foreign countries nor take tax monies for personal expense. Check his web site www.ronpaul2088.com
