I've had migraines along with "normal" headaches since I was 13 or so, and now it appears that dizziness has been added to the mix. It seems that there is something called "vestibular migraine," which involves inner ear disturbances (dizziness, muffled hearing, ringing in ear, etc). The dizziness and hearing alterations can occur at any time, whether or not a migraine is present or approaching. I do have very mild hearing alterations at times, and sometimes get a "fluttering" in my ear a few hours before a migraine. Most of the ear symptoms are on the left side, though the migraine can be on either.
I haven't seen a doctor about the dizziness yet because I assumed it was from an approaching sinus infection, but it's been a couple weeks and I have no sinus symptoms. (A year ago I had major dizziness with a sinus infection and antibiotics cleared it up in two days, so that's why I thought this.)
Anyway. It's not the worst thing in the world and I can somewhat control the dizziness by being careful not to tip my head back, etc. Imitrex and Relpax work pretty well for most migraines. But I was curious if anyone else has these vestibular migraines.
(I also have chronic neck pain, but it does not seem to be related to the headaches or dizziness.)
