Now would be a good time to find some companionship. You can get a daytime companion or a housekeeper. That would be a good step maybe for you. There are also visiting nurses that can assist you. Look into your insurance and see what they would cover and talk to a social worker at your local hospital. They can give you loads of information.

I understand how you feel. I know that my son is holding his life up because he worries about leaving me home alone. Especially since I have my granddaughter most of the time (she's 2-1/2). There is no way for my husband to spend the appropriate amount of time taking care of me, so Justin has put everything on hold, just for me.

He takes a lot of mouth from his father (not my husband), my mom and his siblings because they feel that he doesn't want to do anything else, but I know that my son wants to be a chef and wants to go to school, but he puts his love for me first.

Being alone (he did go out of town for 1-1/2 weeks almost a year ago), you have to become a master at pacing yourself. Enlist the help of close family and friends. Have them prepare meals that you can toss into the microwave (you'll be assured of getting something that tastes good). If the house needs cleaning and you're not feeling up to it...LET IT WAIT! My mom isn't good at this, and we are constantly having to rush over to pick her up off the floor.

I wish I could convince my son that I would be okay if he left, but I got sick while he was on his vacation, so it might take a while. At least I have him willing to take a class or two in a couple of semesters.

I wholeheartedly agree with Mkmac !! Depending on where you live...currently I'm in a large metropolitan area..so the Federal "funding" dries up quickly..however..when I lived in a rural area of Northern Michigan, I was able to have someone come in, twice weekly to assist me..doing light housekeeping, cooking a meal..laundry..this was found by calling the local "area agency on aging"..even though you may not be a senior citizen, you may, as I did..qualify for assistance in this form...at the time...I was alone with a 8 year old boy . There are alot of programs many of us are not aware of..so calling around sometimes can make a huge difference!! Wishing you the best!! jeanne

I can understand how you're feeling! I'm in pain 24/7! In my case, I don't have a husband or children.

I do, however, have pets that need to be cared for. Some people remark that I shouldn't have pets if I'm hurting so much and have such a time doing things. Hahahaha....Aside from the fact that I love them and wouldn't be without them, they give me a reason to keep going; be creative in my thinking by finding ways I can continue doing things. Problem is - some health care people who might come in to help, won't if there are pets. Go figure! Soooo, in your case, you should be able to find help. As was mentioned before, you'll just have to be creative and be persistant in looking for someone to assist you. There is an organization called "Advocates For the Disabled". If they aren't listed as such, ask other government offices if they can give you the information for them. I don't know if they can help, but it won't hurt to ask.

I'm always saddened to hear of others who are in pain. My heart goes out to you!
