Call me cynical, but one has to wonder how much we can believe about what we hear.

Don't you need security clearance to work in a lab like this? And, I have sounded homicidal during some of my therapy sessions, but I'm not, and my Dr. knows the difference between ranting and raving about my abuse issues, and actually being someone that's trigger happy. There is a difference.

This topic came up during some thread drift in another conversation and speaks volumes about the FBI and the media that parrots their absurd conclusions with no serious analysis.

The glass vial that held the strain of anthrax allegedly distributed to Senators Leahy and Daschle prior to passage of the Patriot Act was probably handled by the suspect. In this type of black op, the dead scientist is merelyt the 'cut out'. As the FBI has made clear: Dr. Ivins wasn't the most stable personality and would make an easy 'asset' to recruit.

But the FBI has no idea how that liquid anthrax could have been weaponized.

The case against Dr. Ivins as the "lone assassin" just isn't there. He probably was a part of the larger plot ... but there is no case to be made he did this himself.

The spores could not have been produced at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, where Ivins worked, without many other people being aware of it. This is as sophisticated as anything Ian Fleming's "Q" dreamed up for 007. This case is closed, but far from "solved".

There's entirely too many coincidences about all this.

1. Prior to this incident a Republican Senator defected (I forget his name) which shifted control of the Senate from 51-49 R to 51-49 D and put Daschle in charge.

2. Daschle (as Senate majority leader) and Senator Leahy (as Juciciary Committee Chairman) were the only two people in the government capable of derailing or at least slowing down passage of the Patriot Act.

3. Daschle and Leahy, along with liberal members of the media were the only people to get the anthrax.

4. Ivins is a registered Democrat.

5. Of course, he conveniently commits suicide before his name can be cleared or he can be convicted, whichever would be the case ultimately, but the FBI can now say "case closed".

6. Immediately after the attack, the Republican spin was that this was almost certainly of Iraqi origin (this was prior to invading Iraq).
