It is said that Buddha received his enlightenment while sitting under a tree in India. I wonder, who was his teacher?

That would be ShakyamuniBuddha.Shakyamuni was born in India to royal family as the prince of King Shuddhaodana.

While he had a series of teachers in his early years, he found them unsatisfactory. Ultimately determining that they themselves found their insight through their own methods and processes. It is my understanding that he then left the formal involvement of any one teacher and wandered alone for several years. When it came to his sudden insight, while sitting under the tree, he had no teacher.

Then I have to say it was Nichiren Daishonin or Nichiren Shoshu..I am not quiet clear of Zen form of Buddhism.

I don't think so. I guess my point is that the Buddha's insight did not come from having a teacher. It was an epiphany that came from his own experience. In fact, before his epiphany occurred, he eschewed teachers due to his realization that his personal insight could not come from anywhere but from within himself. As it was for him, so it is likely for others ... It is here that this Koan may be relevant: "If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him."

As for being clear on Zen ... there is nothing I can say ...

Unless you want to kill yourself. You are Buddha!! But I do understand where you are coming from too.
