'tini recipes...

I know a true martini is a gin drink, but for the new wave of vodka "tini" drinks, this is a discussion to share the various recipes. And this is a thread suggested in the "What's for dinner" discussion.

Here's a chocolate-tini from Kimberlee:

2 parts vodka, 1 part frangelico, 1 part creme de cacao (I like the clear)

If I'm really festive, some shaved chocolate to rim the glass!

From Scarecrow, a Washington apple-tini:

Ingredients:

* 1 oz Crown Royal

* 1 oz Sour Apple Pucker

* 1 oz Cranberry juice

Mixing instructions:

Shake and serve up in a chilled cocktail glass rimmed with sugar and cinnamon.

This is my favorite...but it's a Scarecrow special 'tini: Blueberry-tini.

1/2 shot blueberry simple syrup (recipe follows)

2 shots chilled vodka

Put in shaker with ice and, with a good dose of rump shaking, shake until very chilled. (The booty shake is a very important factor.) Strain into glasses. Cheers

Simple syrup flavored with blueberries:

* 1 to 1 1/2 cups sugar (more sugar, sweeter, thicker syrup)

* 1 cup water

* handful of blueberries...the more, the merrier blue

1. Bring the sugar and water to a simmer/low boil in a saucepan. Carefully stir to ensure sugar is completely dissolved. Turn off heat.

2. Toss in blueberries

3. Cool mixture completely and strain.

Stores in the refrigerator for up to one week.

This was hard to find...

A martini goup should be easy to find.

Anyway, here is my chocolate cherry covered martini.

It was inspired by kimberlee's chocolate martini. I couldn't find the hazelnut stuff so I replaced it with Disaronno Amaretto.

2 oz vodka

1 oz creme de' cocoa

.5 oz Desaronno Amaretto. (do not use any other amaretto; the cheap shit tastes more like almonds than cherries)

Shake and pour.

Add a marchino cherry if you like.

This group WAS hard to find. But maybe I'm just new enough to not be aware of the efficient way of finding groups that you know exist in there somewhere.

Anyway . . . I'm here now.

Love the sound of the chocolate covered cherry tini AND the blueberry tini. The blueberry sounds particularly intriguing since it uses actual blueberries (healthy, right?) and not some blue colored mystery liquid.

Just wanted to have the kudos to Scarecrow here. The Washington Apple-tini is quite good. I thought would be be too sweet for me, but was happily surprised to find out otherwise. Scare, you're the best.

How about a Dirty Bird? aka Dirty Martini...

3 oz vodka

1 oz dry vermouth

1/4 oz olive brine

Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker half-filled with cracked ice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, garnish with an olive caterpillar (3 olives on a toothpick), and serve.
